Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father's death the family of Ford, they were looked after by her grandmother, mom and godparents. While she was a small girl, Catherine Ford struggled with an obsessive compulsive disorder and suffered from anxiety because of the word association. Ford's love for acting grew as a child. Ford joined in the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After just a month, she decided that it wasn't the right fit for her. Ford rather than applying to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement at the third time, applied and won an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's classmates. Shaun Dingwall was later to play regular roles in the shows Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993, but she already made a TV appearance on a show in 1992 called Surgical Spirit. She adopted the title Catherine Tate. Through the Nineties, Tate could be seen on television in programmes such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. Tate also performed regularly in theatres, before eventually joining in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate became famous for her stand-up comedies that were added to her selection in the year 1996.
