Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American performer and rapper, making sly songs that addressed questions of race and sexual identities with a funny twist. Prior to her move into Hollywood her career, she was able to make a few songs. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was via the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew in her teen years. In the end, she focused on her education. she graduated with an education in journalism at college and a women's studies major. The focus changed to music once she graduated. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. It also included viral hits including body positive Queef & winking home tour NYC Bitche$1. The latter track connected directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. The singer decided to make acting as a profession following the completion of her previous two projects, as an author and musician. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, she scored major roles in a variety of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her EP "In Fina We Trust".
